From the moment we read the summary, we knew that "Against All Gods" was something very special. It is a biblical period piece with a unique perspective.
Our initial approach was to do in-depth research into the period in which the story takes place. We studied specific the biblical passages from the Old testament and reimagined them into a fictional narrative that gave characters like Noah and Nimrod a greater supernatural presence.
In our second phase, we identified the specific habits, rituals, and religious beliefs of the inhabitants. We considered the clothing, tools, ethnicity, and social status of each of the characters. Both the male and female figures were developed to exemplify the heroic models established in modern graphic novels and games.
In an effort to make a logo that accurately represented the time and place of our story, we researched both the weapons and ancient alphabets used during that time period. Arabic war shields and scimitars were the perfect choice to set the tone of the piece.
